New annual subscription pricing enables continuous use of in-memory computing in the cloud

BELLEVUE, Wash., July 14, 2014 – ScaleOut Software, a leading provider of in-memory computing software, today announced the availability of annual subscription pricing on AWS Marketplace. ScaleOut Software’s customers will now be able to license the use of the company’s products to run on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure on a yearly basis. Annual subscriptions offer a volume discount, typically between 25 to 75 percent for ScaleOut’s products in comparison to hourly pricing. These subscriptions are ideal for workloads that need to run continuously; additional hourly use can be purchased to handle burst or seasonal demands.

Deploying ScaleOut’s in-memory computing products on AWS enables companies to take advantage of AWS’ scalable resources for hosting and analyzing very large in-memory data sets. Cloud-computing opens the door to highly scalable performance while avoiding the capital investment required to deploy and manage dedicated hardware and software resources. The use of annual subscription pricing now makes it cost-effective to host deployments such as this on a continuous basis in addition to periods of peak demand.

For example, an ecommerce company can host thousands of online users in ScaleOut’s in-memory data grid and analyze consumer behavior in real time. With annual subscription pricing, this service can be deployed solely on AWS and avoid the use of on-premise servers. Moreover, AWS’ elastic computing resources and ScaleOut’s dynamic load-balancing allow servers to be added as necessary to handle a transient influx of web traffic as part of a new promotion or other period of peak demand.

ScaleOut Software offers a comprehensive suite of in-memory computing products on AWS Marketplace. ScaleOut hServer® is the world’s first in-memory computing platform that can execute standard Hadoop MapReduce analyses over live data. This product makes use of the scalable, in-memory computing engine within ScaleOut Analytics Server®, which runs data-parallel computations in real time. ScaleOut StateServer® provides scalable, in-memory data storage spanning a cluster of servers and delivers scalable, low-latency data access. ScaleOut GeoServer® combines in-memory data grids at multiple data centers, including on-premise and cloud-based, into a single, logical data grid and also provides features for wide-area data replication and disaster recovery. All of these products now have both hourly and annual subscription pricing options on AWS Marketplace.

“We are excited about the addition of annual subscription pricing on AWS Marketplace,” said William Bain, CEO for ScaleOut Software. “Our customers typically run our products 24/7 to implement mission-critical services. Annual pricing enables them to cost-effectively deploy these services in AWS and take full advantage of AWS’ elastic resources.”

“We are excited to have ScaleOut offer their software with annual subscriptions on AWS Marketplace. Many customers want the flexibility to license software in a way that allows them to forecast expenses ahead of time,” said Barry Russell, Head of Business Development for AWS Marketplace, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Annual subscriptions on AWS Marketplace enable customers to do that. With ScaleOut’s products available in both hourly and annual pricing, customers can quickly expand or launch new initiatives without large up-front costs, while taking advantage of material savings for steady-state, long-term workloads.”
