ScaleOut Software to Exhibit and Present at Microsoft Enterprise Developer & Industry Solutions Conference 2009
Bellevue, WA – April 27, 2009 – ScaleOut Software, a leading provider of distributed, in-memory caching for server farms and compute grids, announced today that it will exhibit and present at the “Microsoft Enterprise Developer & Industry Solutions Conference 2009” on May 5-6 in New York City.
ScaleOut Software will be demonstrating their ScaleOut StateServer® Grid Computing Edition and presenting the results of a very recent case study conducted by Lab49 using ScaleOut StateServer. It will be presented at a key breakout session during the conference. The case study, summarized below, is very timely and contains exciting results:

Session Abstract:
High-performance computing is a story of eliminating bottlenecks – circumventing the limitations of a single machine, managing network usage, preventing oversubscription to scarce resources. Distributed caches have played a major role in this story by providing an efficient, convenient platform for load-balancing objects and data across multiple machines and eliminating fan-in on single-source file systems and databases. However, even as high-performance computing applications have leveraged distributed caching, scalability limits due to increased data motion have surfaced. Essentially, the cost of moving the data to the compute nodes where it can be processed is becoming too expensive. In this session, ScaleOut Software will look at the emerging capabilities of distributed caches to function as intelligent grid computing solutions that can schedule work on nodes where objects and data are located, reducing data motion and improving performance. We will present concrete results from a recent performance study, co-authored by ScaleOut Software; and Lab49, which demonstrates the benefits of applying ScaleOut Software’s StateServer Grid Computing Edition to a custom backtesting platform for automated equities trading strategies in computational finance.

Who
ScaleOut Software was founded in 2003 by William L. Bain. Bill has a Ph.D. (1978) in electrical engineering/parallel computing from Rice University, and he has worked at Bell Labs research, Intel, and Microsoft. Bill founded and ran three start-up companies prior to joining Microsoft. In the most recent company (Valence Research), he developed a distributed Web load-balancing software solution that was acquired by Microsoft and is now called Network Load Balancing within the Windows Server operating system.
