BELLEVUE, Wash., April 02, 2014 – ScaleOut Software, a leading provider of in-memory computing software, today announced certification on Cloudera 5, the latest version of Cloudera Enterprise. ScaleOut hServer® enables Hadoop MapReduce to run continuously on fast-changing data, delivering live analytics in milliseconds. Now certified with Cloudera 5, deploying ScaleOut hServer on Cloudera’s stack is simple. With just a few steps, Cloudera users can configure familiar Hadoop MapReduce applications to detect perishable business opportunities in their live, operational data.

“With the recent certification of ScaleOut hServer on Cloudera 5 customers can expect quicker time to value in analyzing their operational data,” said Tim Stevens, vice president, Business and Corporate Development at Cloudera. “We are seeing very strong demand for Cloudera 5 as organizations increasingly deploy enterprise data hubs in their environments. In addition, our prospects and customers are showing interest in analyzing live data in their Cloudera deployments and working with ScaleOut hServer is key to delivering on that need.”

Integrating a Cloudera enterprise data hub with ScaleOut hServer enables companies to do their batch analysis and operational analysis in the same environment, using a single development framework. This creates cost and performance benefits in a diverse array of sectors including retail, financial services, manufacturing, transportation, and e-commerce.

“Integrating with Cloudera makes it possible for Cloudera users to analyze live, fast-changing data sets using familiar Hadoop MapReduce methods. Until recently, users evaluated this data in batch and searched for insights. Using our in-memory computing platform, customers are able to make business decisions based on identifying patterns in fast-changing data,” said Bill Bain, chief executive officer of ScaleOut Software. “In industries where time is a competitive advantage, the benefits are enormous.”

Cloudera provides the world’s most widely deployed distribution of Apache Hadoop in commercial and non-commercial environments. Today, more than half of the Fortune 50 run open source Apache Hadoop based on Cloudera. With tens of thousands of nodes in production, Cloudera has established itself as the category leader that is setting the standard for Apache Hadoop in the enterprise. Cloudera 5 is a 100-percent open source distribution that combines Apache Hadoop with other open source applications within the Hadoop stack to deliver advanced, enterprise-grade features.
