ScaleOut Software's products are licensed under an End User License Agreement.

To use the software, a license key is required at the time of installation. Keys are issued for evaluation as well as license purchase. ScaleOut Software’s products are licensed on a per "store" basis. A store is the distributed storage repository created by ScaleOut StateServer across a group of servers connected on the same subnet and which will each run the product. Licenses are available for store sizes that will fit the needs of any server farm up to 64 servers.

System Requirements
Hardware - ScaleOut StateServer and ScaleOut SessionServer run on a server farm with 1 to 64 computers connected by a TCP/IP network (gigabit Ethernet strongly preferred). The service must be installed on all servers in a farm that access the distributed store.
Windows Operating System - Windows Server 2003/2008 (strongly preferred), Windows 2000, or Windows XP Professional. Transparent support is provided for ASP.NET 1.1, 2.0, and 3.x session-state storage.
Linux Operating System - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, or Fedora 7.
Solaris Operating System - Solaris 10.
